Lighting style and finding the right size

There's a few tricks for choosing the right size decorative fixture. We'll use your dining room for example....If your room is 10x12 your fixture should be about 22" wide (add the dimensions together). Some designers will tell you to use your dining room table as a guide and do about half the width of that. Either way is fine and maybe both is the best way to get the best fit (especially for wide open floor plans)? As for height, your ceilings will play apart in this but remember the bottom of the fixture should be about 36" from the tabletop.

About Me

My photo
Jessica
I live in Oak Park, IL which is the first suburb west of the amazing city of Chicago. I love it here! I suppose it's technically a suburb but it has a very urban vibe! Living here has brought out a passion for old homes! Anyone who knows me knows I love design!I have a bit of an obsession with furniture, believe lighting is the jewelry for your home and don't even get me started on fabric! I have 5 BEAUTIFUL children and it's these 5 for which I design! I want my house to be a "HOME"! My dream is for this home to be a place where family, friends and lots and lots of grandkids can gather to create memories for a lifetime :) So, sit back, grab a glass of wine and join me on my journey to design for five........
